Polymerized Rosin
OTHER NAME: Polymd rosin
DESCRIPTION
Polymerized rosin is made by dissolving rosin in solvent oil and performing a polymerization reaction under the catalysis of acid. After slag removal, neutralization, water washing and clarification, it is refined by fractionation in a distillation tower.
Due to different choices of catalysts and solvents, there are currently several types of processes, namely:
A polymerization process using protonic acid (mostly sulfuric acid) as the catalyst and gasoline (mostly 200#, chloroform, etc.) as the solvent.
A polymerization process using Lewis acid (mostly zinc chloride, boron anhydride, etc.) as the catalyst and gasoline (200#) as the solvent.
Features
Ø It has a high softening point, excellent antioxidant properties, higher viscosity in organic solvents, does not crystallize, and can also be processed into esters or salts for application.
Ø In adhesives, they often show higher adhesion and initial tack.
Ø Soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone, toluene, carbon disulfide, dichloroethane, turpentine, petroleum ether, gasoline, oils and alkali solutions. Solubility in gasoline is reduced. Insoluble in cold water, slightly soluble in hot water.

Applications
Ø Mainly used in ink resins, oleoresin varnishes, alcohol-soluble varnishes, epoxy resins, adhesives, hot-melt coatings and hot-melt adhesives, metal driers, synthetic resins, wood fiber adhesives, electrical insulation compounds, papermaking glue, Chewing gum etc.
Packaging
Packaged in galvanized iron drums, net weight of 225 kg/drum.
Storage & Transportation
It should be stored in a cool place, avoid high temperature, and should not be stored near fire.
It cannot be stored and transported together with spontaneous combustibles, strong oxidizers, and strong acids, and should be handled according to the regulations for flammable materials.
